Why do people hate the band U2? They rock!?

To answer your question, it would seem a lot of people either take a personal dislike to Bono and his stances on social issues and/or they think the music shallow, uninspiring or over-commercialized. However, I don't believe that; they are a great band who has great lyrical quality; especially on their older albums.
