Can anyone help to cure a problem I have with my computer:-{ I switch on and?

although its quite slow it will arrive at the browser or whatever and I can work with it , but IT has a habit of freezing up completely after ,could be 5 minutes use or sometimes 15 minutes or more . Very frustrating .Is there a simple explaination or method of correcting this problem ? would appreciate istance . Thanks in anticipation.
